AMF_100K_RAISED_NOLOGO.png

Since the Amie Muller Foundation was started in mid 2017, we have raised just over $100,000 dollars and helped 16 military families. Our goal in 2019 is to raise $50,000 and help 10 military families with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis. So far in 2019, we have raised $14,000 thanks to the success of our first annual Family Fun Day.

INITIATIVE 2: FUND research for early detection screening of pancreatic cancer.

We are partnered with The Suzanne Wright Foundation which is focused on getting funding for an agency called HARPA. The  Health Advanced Research Projects Agency will drive medical breakthroughs for incurable diseases. The agency is modeled after DARPA, which is the 'Gold Standard' for innovation and accountability.

There are more than 9,000 known human diseases, yet there are treatments for only 500 of them.

There has been no improvement in the mortality rate of pancreatic cancer in more than forty years. We have no early detection tools or curative treatments," said Bob Wright, Founder of The Suzanne Wright Foundation. "Pancreatic cancer is one example of the limitations of the current system to address deadly diseases with any urgency.

The CodePurple initiative advocates for a new approach to federal research built on accountability and results. Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers. Ninety one percent of patients die, most within the first year of diagnosis. There are no early detection tests and no curative treatments.

INITIATIVE 3- RAISE AWARENESS of the harmful effects of Burn Pits in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Since Amie’s death there has been more national attention and news stories related to Burn Pits. 3 things have happened:

1. The Burn Pit Registry grew by over 40,000 since 2017. To date, over 165,000 Veterans and service members have completed and submitted their information for the Burn Pit registry.

2. The “Helping Veterans Exposed To Burn Pit Act” was passed.

This bill directs the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to establish a center of excellence in the prevention, diagnosis, mitigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of health conditions relating to exposure to burn pits and other environmental exposures in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Thanks to the continuous efforts of Senator Amy Klobuchar, this bill was signed in by the president in 2018. Her campaign which I was honored to a part of included an ad to raise more awareness on the harmful effects of Burn Pits on our veterans health. Watch the ad below.

3. The VA will fund its first national center of excellence

The center will allow the VA to further all evidence-based research to inform the most appropriate and effective care for Veterans in the prevention, diagnosis, mitigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of health conditions relating to exposure to burn pits and other environmental exposures in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Amie’s Fight Song, “No One Fights Alone”

MORE ABOUT THE AMIE MULLER FOUNDATION

The Amie Muller Foundation offers financial assistance to military members who have been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

The Amie Muller Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity that offer financial assistance to military members who have been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, and helps to fund research for early Pancreatic Cancer detection.

As you can imagine, fighting any cancer takes a physical and emotional toll, but can also take a financial one was well. Caregivers and spouses often take a leave of absence from work to care for their loved one fighting cancer. While none of us can fight the battle for anyone, we can support a family with financial assistance to help pay the medical bills, childcare, and extensive travel needed for chemotherapy treatments, etc. Amie has spend her life dedicated to serving our country and taking care of of so many others, and will continue to do so through The Amie Muller Foundation.

Amie spent her life dedicated to serving our country and taking care of of so many others, and will continue to do so through The Amie Muller Foundation.

Our goal is to help 7-10 military families each year who have a loved one diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer(Pancer). The maximum assistance we will give a family will be $5000 and will be based upon financial need.

We also raise money for the most important and vital research that needs to be done to find a way to detect Pancreatic Cancer early. This is the most important task to increase survival odds in the future.

Amie was light. She was love. She was Amie Strong. Her light, love and strength will be there to help a military family in need. Her legacy will live on.

Listen to more on her story here:

The fallen will never be forgotten and Amie is no exception. Her story will live on and her impact will expand beyond just the Amie Muller Foundation.
